Hey every. The reason why this blog hasn't been updated lately is because I am shutting down this blog. You can say goodbye to UrbanConnection.Blogspot but HELLO TO URBANCONNECTION THE DOMAIN! Yes that's right, I am finally getting a domain for this blog y'all! For those of you who don't know what a domain name is, it's a site with your own choice of name without the host site attachment like blogspot. I am in the process of purchasing the domain and will let you know the full name sometime early April. Even though this site will not be updated, I still need all of you guys to view this site everyday to see when I post the new site link. I'm also giving you a heads up on something. Because I am purchasing my own domain, I need my UrbanConnection viewers to help me pay for the site. I will be able to put up Google AdSense. Google AdSense is just ads on the site. Mariah Carey Replaces Janet Jackson On SNL

Mariah Carey will step in for the ailing Janet Jackson this weekend on "Saturday Night Live," marking her first appearance on the show since her performance of "Butterfly" in late 1997. They wanted her for 10 years," says a rep for Carey. "It's going to be hot." Jackson, who was due to support her new album "Discipline," had to pull out of her scheduled March 15 performance after coming down with the flu. Her publicist Patti Webster announced the cancelation Tuesday, stating she "needs some time to get better." Carey, Jackson's Island label mate, will likely perform "Touch My Body," the first single from her new album "E=MC2," due April 15. As previously reported, Jackson went to the emergency room at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Monday night after complaining of shortness of breath and flu symptoms. She was released shortly afterwards.

Bad news for Janet, but that's wonderful news for Mariah. She needs all the promo she can get with this hot new single.

New Leaked Track: Christina Milian "So Deep, So Fast"

A new track by Christina Milian has leaked. It's titled "So Deep, So Fast." This track does nothing for me. Christina Milian isn't a bad singer, it's just that she doesn't have much of a voice, and her voice sounds very young and pop. This song sounds like a track she would've done back in the early 00's. She says she's coming out with a new album, but no label has signed her yet. I guess she's trying to release the album on an independent or a small and new Indie label with her boyfriend, Dre. Jill Scott "Agency" To become HBO Series, Juvenile Avoids Daughter's Funeral, Saaphyri Creates Lip Balm & Hair Line, & Bow Wow Gets Ready To Turn 21

Jill Scott just scored a regular gig on HBO now that her two-hour film, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," will serve as the pilot for a 13-episode run on the cable network. The film was shot on location in Botswana by director Anthony Minghella ("The English Patient") from a script he wrote with Richard Curtis ("Four Weddings and a Funeral"). Based on the best-selling crime books by Alexander McCall Smith, the series stars Scott as Precious Ramotswe, the owner of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Anika Noni Rose plays her quirky secretary, Mma Makutsi, and Lucian Msamati stars as Ramotswe's devoted suitor, JLB Matekoni. HBO has secured U.S. and Canadian television and home video rights, and the BBC has taken U.K. television distribution, reports Reuters. The Weinstein Co. controls all other international territories.

Rapper Juvenile did not attend the funeral service held Saturday for his slain 4-year-old daughter Jelani, her 11-year-old half-sister Micaiah and their mother, Joy Deleston in James Island, South Carolina Saturday. According to TMZ.com, a rep for the artist did not want to attract further media to the ceremony. Police have arrested Deleston's 17-year-old son, Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., and charged him with three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault in the Feb. 28 killings. He is currently being held in a DeKalb County prison. Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against him.

Reality star turned entrepreneur Saaphyri Windsor is known to many as the chick on "Flavor of Love 2" that didn't get a nickname from Flava Flav because she got into a fight with another contestant just moments after entering the reality show digs. But it was that incident that brought her even more fame. Not only did her altercation win her a spot on the show's spin-off (of sorts) "Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School," which she ultimately won the 'Charm School" prize of $50,000, but it also was the catapult for her Lip Chap lip balm line - she offered "lip chap" to her "Flavor of Love" adversary on the show. "I prayed all the time and just stayed out of trouble," the Los Angeles native said of her secret to winning the monetary prize. "I didn't really talk to anybody. I didn't have any problems with Mo'Nique. I knew what I was there for - I was there to get that money. Anybody I got problems with, I'm gonna put that to the side because I want to get to the end of the rainbow." The plan worked. Saaphyri found the pot of gold and used pert of it to launch her line of lip balm and hair; two things she's very familiar with. "The Lip Chap actually came from 'Season 2.' I offered a girl some Lip Chap. Then I had people come up to me all the time and ask for it," she said. Saaphyri's Lip Chap is a unisex lip balm. "It will not make your lips glossy," she claimed, "but it will keep them extremely moist. It has SPF 15 in it. You have to take good care of your lips. People are always looking at them. We have flavors like cookie dough, mojito, piña colada, bubble gum, wintergreen, and there will be some other flavors added later on."

She said that she uses lip balms all the time, but that her product "is better than anything" she's ever used. In addition, Saaphyri is launching a line of hair. The reality star began braiding hair when she was just nine years old. Her grandmother owned a beauty salon, where a young Saaphyri watched intently as stylist would put in hair weaves. But Saaphyri didn't think the hair looked realistic. Saaphyri's Ultimate Indian Hair is the answer to the unrealistic hair blues. In addition, the new business owner is also promoting a hair donation drive to help those with cancer and alopecia. "I have a show that we're going to be doing called 'Weavathon,'" she said. "I want to make wigs. The show is to come up with a way to have people to donate their hair; not necessarily hair that you grew out of your head. A lot of us ladies that wear weaves get new hair and put the old hair in a box in case we want to put it back on. I know there are a lot of celebrities that do that. I've heard Tyra talk about taking out her hair and labeling it. But if you switch the colors, you can't do that. So, basically it's a show to raise hair." Saaphyri explained that she was inspired to do the "Weavathon" because of a childhood friend. "Her hair started falling out and people would tease her. And When they had problems with her, they were gonna have problems with me. So we would get into a lot of altercations at school," she said. "But all her hair fell out she stopped going to school." Here is the new video for Janet Jackson's second single, "Rock With U." My speakers aren't working so I haven't heard the song, but the video is so wack! It's very dark and annoying. The lights go off, then on... you can barely see her. She's trying to give off this sexy, dark, odd vibe and it's a complete disaster. The choreography is dumb and humorous. The dancers and Janet look like fools. Also, I don't get why she chose to kiss one of her male dancers. It was unecessary. Janet needs to stop doing the kitten thing.

Janet Jackson's Discipline Album & Usher's Newest Single Reach Number 1

Janet Jackson's "Discipline" bows at No. 1 on The Billboard 200. The Island Def Jam set moved 181,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen Soundscan, becoming the artist's sixth chart-topper. Her last two Virgin albums, 2004's "Damita Jo" and 2006's "20 Y.O.," both debuted and peaked at No. 2, though "Damita" started with 381,000 while "20 Y.O." began with 296,000. Going number 1 depends on the sales that week. 181,000 units is very low, especially for a legendary artist like "Miss Jackson." I can't believe there were so many crazy fans who tried to hype her up, saying that she was making a comeback.

Usher posts the third-largest jump to No. 1 in Billboard Hot 100 history as "Love in This Club" featuring Young Jeezy, zooms 51-1. It also opens at No. 1 on Hot Digital Songs with 198,000 downloads, the largest first-week sum since Sean Kingston shifted 260,000 in the Aug. 11, 2007, issue.The track is from Usher's new album, "Here I Stand," due in June via LaFace/Zomba. That's good that Usher is trying to come back. I don't even think I've heard the damn song though...

LACK OF UPDATES

Hey everyone. There hasn't been updates in a while due to lack of trafficing, AKA decreasing of visits. I've also haven't had time to update because I've been so busy with applying to colleges and I've been working. Even when I did have some time to update, I didn't because I'm tired of the ups and downs of the amount of visitors. To keep UrbanConnection alive, you must view the site daily, everyday or every other day, and don't decide to stop viewing the site when there hasn't been any updates. A high amount of visitors motivates me to keep on updating this site. Also, if you find something interesting on this site like HQ photos or news stories, please give credit and a link back. Whether it be on forums or actual websites like fansites and blogs. I will still continue to update this site. In the meantime, just hold tight.

New Leaked Track: Nicole Scherzinger, "Happily Never After"

The HQ version of Nicole's "Happily Never After" track has leaked. This track has leaked before but now the album recorded version is available. The track supposidly has Ne-Yo's vocals in the background. My speakers are messed up so I'm not sure if that was him or not. I do hear a males voice in the background in some point in the song. This song is absolutely booooooooooooooooooooooooring! I was sitting here doing other things on the computer for this site and thinking, OMG shut up already. Her vocals are horrible. I hate the tone of her voice. Her tone is very weird. It's kinda scratchy and boyish. It has been reported that she will no longer work on her solo career, instead she's getting back with the Pussycat Dolls. There has been also an article that reported that she was getting back with PCD, but would still continue working on her solo album. I wonder which one is true. She should just give up the solo thing. All she is is sex appeal. Because she has such a strong look her beauty can be debatable... so it's true that looks can only get you so far. I can't believe how different her voice sounds. Because my speakers are messed up, it took me a while to realize that it was really her. This song will be one of the songs on the re-release of her albm, "Ms Kelly." I really hope Kelly can have a successful career. It's not like she doesn't have the talent. Ne-Yo gets Arrested & Rihanna Helps Leukemia Patient Find Bone Marrow Donor

When Ne-Yo gets going, it's the sky and apparently not the speed—that's the limit. The 28-year-old hip-hop star was arrested early Tuesday in Atlanta after Cobb County police clocked his Range Rover going more than 100 mph. Police spokeswoman Cassie Reece said Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, was booked on charges of reckless driving and driving without a license and released later that day on a $1,300 bond. He's due in court Mar. 25 to answer to the charges.

She just became an honorary cultural ambassador for Barbados, and now Rihanna is advocating for another cause: a New York City leukemia patient in urgent need of a bone marrow donor. The 20-year-old singer is working with DKMS, an international donor network based in Tubingen, Germany, to try to find a donor for Lisa Gershowitz Flynn, People magazine reported on its website Saturday. "When I heard about Lisa's plight, my heart broke," Rihanna told the magazine. "I said, 'I need to get the word out about Lisa right away.'" Flynn is a 41-year-old mother of two young children. She was diagnosed in November with acute myelogenous leukemia, a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Doctors have told her she has four to six weeks to find a suitable donor, according to People. Flynn said she was stunned by the singer's efforts on her behalf. "For Rihanna to even be thinking about helping others and putting herself out there when she is so busy with her career is tremendous," Flynn said. Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was named an honorary cultural ambassador for her native Caribbean island on Thursday.

Christina Milian, Ice-T and his wife CoCo attended the Billboard Magazine and Children Uniting Nations Oscar Party on February 24, 2008 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Christina Milian looks very sophisticated and stylish. I'm not too fond of the clevage showing though. I think many females are taking the low cut thing with dresses at red carpet events too far. Ice-T's ho/wife looks trashy every time I see her. This is the classiest I've ever seen her on a red carpet event and that's not saying a damn thing. The dress could've been nice and classy if the bra didn't show and the boobs were tucked in.

Cassie attended BET's Rip the Runway 2008 at BET Studios February 21, 2008 in New York. Cassie is a beautiful girl, but that dress has got to go! The shape is too plain and square. It doesn't flatter her small figure. She also has on too much makeup. In the second pic, her face looks very fake... like she's had plastic surgery when she hasn't.

It's a white T-shirt, with a rain coat, and one of those net hats ( I'm not sure of the name they just remind me of a thick net) I just don't get Beyonce. She doesn't do it for me. Her face without makeup or like here, with less makeup, is very plain and dull. She looks like any ordinary person and dresses like someone who's on a budget when she's out and about. How come Beyonce and Jay-Z are starting that distance relationship again when cameras are around. If you've noticed, we don't really hear about Beyonce and Jay-Z anymore or see pics of them. I'm sure they've been off and on like a lot of long-term relationships.

The dress also makes her look older. It's good that she's fully covered while performing, but damn Nelly C'mon... you can still be covered without looking like someone's grandma.

Lil Mama attended the 2008 Rip The Runway in New York City on February 21, 2008. When Lil mama tries to dress up, she always looks like she's trying too hard. She can't rock skirts, dresses, or heels. Her face already looks old and with this conservative sophisticated outfit, it makes her look even older. That girl is petite but has got some guns! I think she should just stick with pant suits... for now anyways.

Pitbull Is Happy That His Label, TVT, Is Going Bankrupted

Rapper PITBULL is pleased his label TVT Records is in financial difficulty as it puts him "one step closer to freedom". The outspoken star real name Armando Christian Perez has publicly condemned the label in recent months, accusing bosses of hampering his blossoming music career. Pitbull launched an angry tirade against TVT, accusing the company of not doing enough to promote his album The Boatlift, and even urging his fans not to purchase the disc. And Pitbull now insists he's relieved to hear TVT has filed for bankruptcy and axed the majority of its staff. He tells AllHipHop.com, "Of course the situation is very unfortunate for the people who lost their jobs, and it's unfortunate that it came to this. "But it's a very fortunate situation for the artists. That puts us one step closer to freedom." TVT's founder and president Steve Gottlieb, who launched the label out of his New York City apartment in 1985, claims the company is downscaling all its operations but will continue to work on all of its forthcoming projects.
