Jennifer Lopez: Booed For BorderTown In Berlin

A German news Web site claims that boo-birds attacked Jennifer Lopez’s new socially-conscious film “Bordertown” during its premiere Thursday at the Berlin International Film Festival. The Gregory Nava-directed film stars J.Lo in the true story of a journalist investigating the murders of young women in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez. Human rights organizations have applauded Lopez for helping to bring the issue to national attention.

On Wednesday, Amnesty International gave her its "Artists for Amnesty" prize in recognition of her role in publicizing the murders. But according to the Web site Spiegel Online, some critics felt the film itself was not respectful of the real events.

“The first ominous signs came at the press screening on Thursday afternoon, when the film was booed by the audience, apparently annoyed that Nava had decided to make a B-movie thriller out of such a tragedy, the website reports. “Then there were boos during the official premiere on Thursday evening, and applause at the end was muted. J-Lo looked visibly upset.

“Reviews in the German papers Friday were hardly any more complimentary. ‘Actually the subject matter is important,’ writes the mass circulation BZ. ‘But one can't take La Lopez seriously in her role for a single moment: She's simply too cute and too J-Lo!’ The newspaper rates the movie's chances of winning a Golden Bear award as ‘slim.

“The Berliner Zeitung says the film is ‘funny, but unintentionally" reporting that viewers at the press screening had reacted with ‘frenetic laughter’ at supposedly serious scenes. However the film is also ‘pretty distasteful’ at the same time: the critic accuses J-Lo of exploiting the real suffering of the Mexican women in order to become a star in the Central American market. ‘It's no coincidence that the film is coming out at the same time as her new record, the first where she sings entirely in Spanish,’ the paper writes.”

Toni Braxton: Settles Lawsuit

Barry Hankerson and his Blackground Records LLC has announced that a settlement has been reached with Toni Braxton in her lawsuit against them.

According to the statement released by a rep for Blackground, the settlement "requires Braxton to return to Blackground Records a $375,000 advance she received on December 27, 2006, and further provides for compensating Blackground Records by paying to it a percentage of the net sales of Braxton's next album."
Blackground's statement also details its side of the dispute that triggered Braxton's lawsuit.

"Blackground Records released Toni Braxton from her recording contract on January 10 of this year," the release states. "Braxton immediately retaliated with a lawsuit filed in federal court. Braxton dismissed the federal lawsuit in response to an order of the Court advising her of its intention to dismiss the case unless she provided further justification of its basis. Braxton filed another lawsuit in New York State the same day, which attorneys for Blackground Records deemed to be absolutely devoid of any merit.

When Barry Hankerson began working with Toni Braxton in 1997, he loaned her a substantial amount of money to assist her in dealing with a much publicized bankruptcy. As her manager, he negotiated a contract on her behalf with Arista Records that paid her an advance of $23,000,000. However, after only two albums, Arista released her from her contract. At Braxton's behest, Hankerson signed Braxton to Blackground Records, where she released only one of the three albums she committed to. As expected the Braxton camp issued a statement that gives their perspective of the settlement.

"This settlement allows Ms. Braxton immediately to start new projects of her choice," said Peter L. Haviland, her trial lawyer. "She wanted to end her relationship with Blackground and Barry Hankerson, and she has. Money has never been what motivates her. Integrity -- artistic and personal -- does.""My freedom from Barry Hankerson is priceless, and means everything to me," said Braxton.

Gossip; Diddy Goes off On Naomi Campbell

Diddy may want to consider protective headgear after he "angrily confronted" infamously projectile-prone Naomi Campbell at a Grammy after-party, according to Ben Widdicombe of the Daily News. According to Widdicombe's spy, "Diddy just started screaming at her when he saw her. No one could believe it. He was screaming obscenities at her" and at actor Terrence Howard, who was with her. Oddly, however, Naomi "played it totally cool." There's no specific reason for the origins of the tirade, except that Diddy's baby mama ( Kim) hates her.

Ray J And Kim Kardashian: Sex Tape Sold

Looks like the sex tape with Ray J and Kim turned out to be true. Read the article below

After months of rumors, and even denial, about its existence, a sex tape featuring Ray J and Paris Hilton's best friend Kim Kardashian has been sold to Vivid Video and will be released on DVD Feb. 28.
The company is rumored to have paid $1 million for the footage from an unidentified source.

News of the tape, not only existing and being for sale, comes on the heels of Kardashian outright lying to Complex magazine about it.
"There is no sex tape! Ray J’s not the kind of guy who would do something for revenge," Kardashian said in the mag's February/March cover story. "There is no amount of money that could ever convince me to release any tape, even if I had one. I don’t need the money.”

Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch told the New York Post: "We are comfortable that we have the legal right to distribute this video ... I've seen the video and it's really great. It has over 30 minutes of explicit sex that fans of erotica will find very appealing ... Apparently, the video was shot by Ray J about three years ago when he and Kim were in a relationship. Viewers will definitely get their money's worth."
What people will do for fame and money. Put your own personal bsuiness out like that, just another cheap, low, stunt.

Terrance Dean: Undercover Brother Goes Public

Forget Carmen Bryan, Karrine Steffans, and Superhead. There's a new tell all black author in the biz and it's not a woman! Read the article below

Former MTV producer Terrance Dean has written a new memoir about his life as a gay, black man and his dating exploits within the entertainment industry. “Hiding in Hip-Hop: Confessions of a Down Low Brother in the Entertainment Industry” sold to Atria last week, according to Publishers Marketplaceis said to cover “the author's life as a closeted homosexual working in the film and music industry and his relationships with other closeted homosexuals—film stars, rap artists, and music producers.”

Unlike other recent industry tell-alls from Karrine Steffans and Carmen Bryan, Dean does not name names in his book, which Atria plans to release in 2008. However, a spokeswoman for the publisher said Dean’s descriptions of the closeted men will be quite obvious.
"Let's put it this way: You'll know who they are," she said, according to Radar.com. "It's a no-holds-barred look at Hollywood and hip-hop and who's living on the down-low."

Mary J Blige: Tells How Her Husband Saved Her Life

"We met when I hated men," Blige, 36, tells Parade about Kendu Isaacs, 38, a talent manager and producer she met through Queen Latifah in a recording studio six years ago. "He said, 'Mary, I've got something to tell you that's going to hurt, but it will help you heal.'' Guys didn't ever talk to me like that. 'You're scarred inside,' he said. 'It's like you have a cut, and it's infected. You have to let me put proper medicine on it so it can heal.' "She had turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the pain from her abusive upbringing. "The relationship I was in was so terrible, I had a gun to my face," she says.
At that point, I said to myself, 'There's something wrong with me. Guys don't want to stick around because they're ashamed of me.' Ouch! That gives me the chills right now!" At first, she treated Isaacs "so badly for a while, because I'd never experienced real love before. I was suspicious. It seemed too good to be true." But he stayed by her side, and eventually she learned to let go. "I remember lying on the bed with my head on his chest. I decided to stop drinking that night and forgive all the people who had hurt me and to forgive and love myself, because I loved him and I wanted to be true."

Jennifer Hudson: Dismisses Rumors Of Feud With Beyonce In Essence

Jennifer Hudson has won Golden Globe and SAG awards – and is up for an Oscar – for her role in Dreamgirls – despite what she describes as an abusive experience on American Idol."On American Idol, you go through this mental thing; you've got to get yourself back together. You've been abused, misled and brainwashed to believe whatever they want you to think," Hudson, 25, tells the new issue of Essence. "You become a character – I became the girl in the turkey wrapping." (On one episode, she wore an unflattering outfit that earned that label.) "I just knew I had to sing my way out of it. I don't believe in looking back, and I didn't look back."
Hudson also dismisses rumors that there was tension on the Dreamgirls set between herself and costar Beyoncé Knowles. "We clicked from day one," she says. She says she, Knowles and their fellow Dreamgirl Anika Noni Rose bonded over the fact that they're all Virgos, and all have a mole in the same spot on the left side of their necks. "It's amazing to me that God took three different women from three different walks of life and created the Dreamgirls," Hudson says. "We were meant to be together. When you look at us, you see it's all connected. I'm loving Beyoncé."

Paris Hilton: Using The N-Word

Paris Hilton has been caught using the N-Word. There was a tape on youtube of Paris using the word, but was immediately taken off. Figures, probably by her or her reps.

In the footage, Paris and her sister Nicky are at a house party dancing by themselves to the sounds of Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize.” A male friend who dances in between them was referred to as a “faggot” by both Hilton sisters.

Then, at about 2 minutes and 45 seconds into the footage, Paris approaches the camera and laughs, “We’re like two niggers.”
The “Simple Life” star, who recently reunited with her black former best friend, Nicole Richie, steps to the camera again at about 3:55 to vent about a run-in with a woman at the party, whom she describes as a
“f*ckin’ hoodlum, broke, poor bitch from like, Compton – public school bitch.”

This isn't the first time Hilton has been accused of using the word. A damn shame, isn't it?
