Yes that's right, I am finally getting a domain for this blog y'all! For those of you who don't know what a domain name is, it's a site with your own choice of name without the host site attachment like blogspot. I am in the process of purchasing the domain and will let you know the full name sometime early April. Even though this site will not be updated, I still need all of you guys to view this site everyday to see when I post the new site link. I'm also giving you a heads up on something. Mariah Carey Replaces Janet Jackson On SNL

Mariah Carey will step in for the ailing Janet Jackson this weekend on "Saturday Night Live," marking her first appearance on the show since her performance of "Butterfly" in late 1997. They wanted her for 10 years," says a rep for Carey. "It's going to be hot." Jackson, who was due to support her new album "Discipline," had to pull out of her scheduled March 15 performance after coming down with the flu. Her publicist Patti Webster announced the cancelation Tuesday, stating she "needs some time to get better." Carey, Jackson's Island label mate, will likely perform "Touch My Body," the first single from her new album "E=MC2," due April 15. As previously reported, Jackson went to the emergency room at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles Monday night after complaining of shortness of breath and flu symptoms. She was released shortly afterwards.

Bad news for Janet, but that's wonderful news for Mariah. She needs all the promo she can get with this hot new single.

Christina Milian isn't a bad singer, it's just that she doesn't have much of a voice, and her voice sounds very young and pop. This song sounds like a track she would've done back in the early 00's. She says she's coming out with a new album, but no label has signed her yet. I guess she's trying to release the album on an independent or a small and new Indie label with her boyfriend, Dre. Jill Scott just scored a regular gig on HBO now that her two-hour film, "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency," will serve as the pilot for a 13-episode run on the cable network. The film was shot on location in Botswana by director Anthony Minghella ("The English Patient") from a script he wrote with Richard Curtis ("Four Weddings and a Funeral"). Based on the best-selling crime books by Alexander McCall Smith, the series stars Scott as Precious Ramotswe, the owner of the only female-owned detective agency in Botswana. Anika Noni Rose plays her quirky secretary, Mma Makutsi, and Lucian Msamati stars as Ramotswe's devoted suitor, JLB Matekoni. HBO has secured U.S. and Canadian television and home video rights, and the BBC has taken U.K. television distribution, reports Reuters. The Weinstein Co. controls all other international territories.

Rapper Juvenile did not attend the funeral service held Saturday for his slain 4-year-old daughter Jelani, her 11-year-old half-sister Micaiah and their mother, Joy Deleston in James Island, South Carolina Saturday. According to TMZ.com, a rep for the artist did not want to attract further media to the ceremony. Police have arrested Deleston's 17-year-old son, Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., and charged him with three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault in the Feb. 28 killings. He is currently being held in a DeKalb County prison. Because of his age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty against him.

Reality star turned entrepreneur Saaphyri Windsor is known to many as the chick on "Flavor of Love 2" that didn't get a nickname from Flava Flav because she got into a fight with another contestant just moments after entering the reality show digs. But it was that incident that brought her even more fame. Not only did her altercation win her a spot on the show's spin-off (of sorts) "Flavor of Love Girls: Charm School," which she ultimately won the 'Charm School" prize of $50,000, but it also was the catapult for her Lip Chap lip balm line - she offered "lip chap" to her "Flavor of Love" adversary on the show. "I prayed all the time and just stayed out of trouble," the Los Angeles native said of her secret to winning the monetary prize. "I didn't really talk to anybody. I didn't have any problems with Mo'Nique. I knew what I was there for - I was there to get that money. Anybody I got problems with, I'm gonna put that to the side because I want to get to the end of the rainbow." The plan worked. Saaphyri found the pot of gold and used pert of it to launch her line of lip balm and hair; two things she's very familiar with. "The Lip Chap actually came from 'Season 2.' I offered a girl some Lip Chap. Then I had people come up to me all the time and ask for it," she said. Saaphyri's Lip Chap is a unisex lip balm. "It will not make your lips glossy," she claimed, "but it will keep them extremely moist. It has SPF 15 in it. You have to take good care of your lips. People are always looking at them. We have flavors like cookie dough, mojito, piña colada, bubble gum, wintergreen, and there will be some other flavors added later on."

She said that she uses lip balms all the time, but that her product "is better than anything" she's ever used. In addition, Saaphyri is launching a line of hair. The reality star began braiding hair when she was just nine years old. Her grandmother owned a beauty salon, where a young Saaphyri watched intently as stylist would put in hair weaves. But Saaphyri didn't think the hair looked realistic. Saaphyri's Ultimate Indian Hair is the answer to the unrealistic hair blues. In addition, the new business owner is also promoting a hair donation drive to help those with cancer and alopecia. "I have a show that we're going to be doing called 'Weavathon,'" she said. A lot of us ladies that wear weaves get new hair and put the old hair in a box in case we want to put it back on. I know there are a lot of celebrities that do that. I've heard Tyra talk about taking out her hair and labeling it. But if you switch the colors, you can't do that. So, basically it's a show to raise hair." Saaphyri explained that she was inspired to do the "Weavathon" because of a childhood friend. "Her hair started falling out and people would tease her. And When they had problems with her, they were gonna have problems with me. So we would get into a lot of altercations at school," she said. "But all her hair fell out she stopped going to school." The lights go off, then on... you can barely see her. She's trying to give off this sexy, dark, odd vibe and it's a complete disaster. The choreography is dumb and humorous. The dancers and Janet look like fools. Also, I don't get why she chose to kiss one of her male dancers. It was unecessary. Janet needs to stop doing the kitten thing.

Going number 1 depends on the sales that week. 181,000 units is very low, especially for a legendary artist like "Miss Jackson." I can't believe there were so many crazy fans who tried to hype her up, saying that she was making a comeback.

I've also haven't had time to update because I've been so busy with applying to colleges and I've been working. Even when I did have some time to update, I didn't because I'm tired of the ups and downs of the amount of visitors. To keep UrbanConnection alive, you must view the site daily, everyday or every other day, and don't decide to stop viewing the site when there hasn't been any updates. A high amount of visitors motivates me to keep on updating this site. Also, if you find something interesting on this site like HQ photos or news stories, please give credit and a link back. The track supposidly has Ne-Yo's vocals in the background. My speakers are messed up so I'm not sure if that was him or not. I do hear a males voice in the background in some point in the song. This song is absolutely booooooooooooooooooooooooring! I was sitting here doing other things on the computer for this site and thinking, OMG shut up already. Her vocals are horrible. I hate the tone of her voice. Her tone is very weird. It's kinda scratchy and boyish. The 28-year-old hip-hop star was arrested early Tuesday in Atlanta after Cobb County police clocked his Range Rover going more than 100 mph. Police spokeswoman Cassie Reece said Ne-Yo, whose real name is Shaffer Smith, was booked on charges of reckless driving and driving without a license and released later that day on a $1,300 bond. He's due in court Mar. 25 to answer to the charges.

She just became an honorary cultural ambassador for Barbados, and now Rihanna is advocating for another cause: a New York City leukemia patient in urgent need of a bone marrow donor. The 20-year-old singer is working with DKMS, an international donor network based in Tubingen, Germany, to try to find a donor for Lisa Gershowitz Flynn, People magazine reported on its website Saturday. "When I heard about Lisa's plight, my heart broke," Rihanna told the magazine. "I said, 'I need to get the word out about Lisa right away.'" Flynn is a 41-year-old mother of two young children. She was diagnosed in November with acute myelogenous leukemia, a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Doctors have told her she has four to six weeks to find a suitable donor, according to People. Flynn said she was stunned by the singer's efforts on her behalf. "For Rihanna to even be thinking about helping others and putting herself out there when she is so busy with her career is tremendous," Flynn said. Rihanna, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was named an honorary cultural ambassador for her native Caribbean island on Thursday.

The dress could've been nice and classy if the bra didn't show and the boobs were tucked in.

Rapper PITBULL is pleased his label TVT Records is in financial difficulty as it puts him "one step closer to freedom". The outspoken star real name Armando Christian Perez has publicly condemned the label in recent months, accusing bosses of hampering his blossoming music career. Pitbull launched an angry tirade against TVT, accusing the company of not doing enough to promote his album The Boatlift, and even urging his fans not to purchase the disc. And Pitbull now insists he's relieved to hear TVT has filed for bankruptcy and axed the majority of its staff. He tells AllHipHop.com, "Of course the situation is very unfortunate for the people who lost their jobs, and it's unfortunate that it came to this. "But it's a very fortunate situation for the artists. That puts us one step closer to freedom." TVT's founder and president Steve Gottlieb, who launched the label out of his New York City apartment in 1985, claims the company is downscaling all its operations but will continue to work on all of its forthcoming projects.

Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony became the parents of twins early on Friday in a New York-area hospital, according to People magazine, which reportedly paid upward of $6 million for the photo rights. The boy and girl, delivered in a Long Island, New York, hospital, were the first for the 38-year-old actress and singer, whose efforts to become pregnant have filled tabloid pages in the past few years. Anthony, a 39-year-old salsa singer, has a daughter and two sons from two previous relationships. Lopez did not confirm her much-rumored pregnancy until early November, when she announced the news to a Miami audience while on a concert tour with her husband. The trade publication Advertising Age reported earlier this week that People magazine was poised to pay the couple between $4 million and $6 million for exclusive U.S. rights to the first photos of the twins.

Kanye West's new video for his single "Flashing Lights" has left some folks scratching their heads, and that's exactly what the artist wants, according to his co-star, Rita G. The Playboy Playmate from Houston stars in the short clip, which is co-directed by Spike Jonze and is generating a lot of buzz since leaking online earlier this month. The slow-motion footage begins with Rita parking in the Nevada desert, exiting her car, dropping her fur coat and lighting it on fire. She walks back to the car and pops the trunk to expose a bound and gagged Kanye. She caresses his face before taking a shovel and bashing him his body out of view – as he's curled up in the trunk. The video then pulls a "Sopranos" and abruptly cuts to black. "It's so funny," Rita G told MTV News about the clip. "This video will go over a lot of people's heads — and it's supposed to. I think it's great that it does. Because Kanye is just on another level; he's ahead of his time, in a sense. "So all the third-graders who come home from school and want to watch videos and snap their fingers and all that, they're probably gonna think, 'That video is whack, but that chick got a fat a**.' And that's fine. But people in higher positions, they're gonna see something different. They're gonna get it, people who are thinkers."

I'm glad to know that I wasn't the only one who thought that the video was pointless and just plain stupid. What Kanye made sure to do is confuse everyone by having a thick chick with a large ass, in nothing but a bra and a thong, be the center of attention throughout the video. That right there is going to throw people off, instantly. At the end, when we finally see Kanye, he is in a trunk and is smashed with a shovel. This video is just disturbing and degrading. Sean "Diddy" Combs filed a declaration in his upcoming assault case stating that the man suing him in civil court actually ran into his open hand during an incident outside of the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood. In recent depositions, four witnesses testified under oath that Diddy punched Gerald Rechnitzer around 2:30 a.m. on Feb. 26 after he confronted the mogul for flirting with his fiancée, Sofia Sokolov. But according to TMZ.com, Diddy filed court papers claiming his hand was open and outstretched as Gerald "lunged" into it with his face. Diddy said that Rechnitzer "continued moving toward me and, without warning, lunged at me. Instinctively, I outstretched one of my hands, which the hand was not closed-fisted, to shield myself ... any contact between Mr. Rechnitzer and myself was caused by his forward motion against my stationary open hand." Following the incident, Rechnitzer filed a complaint with the Los Angeles Police Department. But after a brief investigation, no charges were filed. There were some people who said this music video was genius... they only said that because they feed into the hype over Kanye West. The song is about a woman who kills a man who has cheated in her, but I was expected a song that showed FLASHING LIGHTS. For example, I really started feelin' this song when I saw the commercial of Diddy during the New Year's hoiliday for an alcohol drink. This song was featured in the commercial. There were flashing club lights, people dressed up nicely, dancing, it was very flashy. I expected that in this video. The way the woman was dressed was uncalled for. She had on nothin but a bra and a thong. Very degrading and just supports the women and sex in Hip-Hop music videos.

Trey Songz music video for "Last Time" has leaked. I really like the song. The beat is nice. The lyrics are stupid though. I guess he's talking about it's the last time he's going to cheat on his girl with another girl. The video had a good concept but the actress was wack as hell! I believe the "ho" in this video is the actress who played Eddie's girlfriend on the Disney Channel TV Show "That's So Raven." She is a horrible actress! When she pretended to cry, I was laughing on the inside thinking "What the hell is this?" Yea but the acting ruined the whole video. Plus, Trey needs to give more to the camera, maybe he should try dancing. He's cute but he looks so skinny and stiff in the scenes.

According to Billboard.com, the disc features producers Jermaine Dupri and will.i.am, plus DJ Toomp, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser. Other collaborators include T-Pain and Damian Marley. "It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sounds like the album is better than the last album," Dupri recently told Billboard. The Grammy Awards may be about the competition, pitting artist against artist, but according to Ne-Yo, he's more of a unifier. He says that's the case even if there are some who want to slow the freshly minted Grammy winner's roll. He's looking at you, R. Kelly.Ne-Yo — who won Best Contemporary R&B Album for his Because of You LP — spoke with MTV News late last week in Los Angeles about getting booted from Kelly's Double Up tour in November, after which his camp sued the tour's promoter in December for breach of contract."That's something that my management and my lawyers are doing," the singer/songwriter said. "Me personally? I've let it go. I'm not the hold-a-grudge guy. I'm not gonna see R. Kelly in the street and run up on him and swing on him. I'm not gonna do a dis record about R. Kelly. It was what it was. It happened. For whatever reason, he, I don't know, I guess felt threatened by me and kicked me off tour. Life goes on."I don't have a problem with the man," he continued. "It's apparent he has a problem with me — he kicked me off tour."

Ne-Yo is a real songwriter, unlike many artists who claim to be. He writes songs for other artists frequently; that's another job of his. I think his lyrics are okay. His lyrics on his songs are good but what he writes for females seems a little lame to me. I'm not knocking Ne-Yo, what I'm getting to is that you have people like John Legend, Ciara, Usher, even Janet Jackson who are requesting song lyrics from the man! These are people who have been in the game for so long and have made their mark. You would've thought they had learned how to write a damn song by now. Ne-Yo gets paid thousands of dollars for writing other artist's songs. As an inspiring singer, I think that all singers should write their own songs. You get paid much more and the lyrics are coming from the actual artist.

Mathew Knowles is a little upset over Aretha Franklin taking offense to his daughter Beyonce using the word "queen" during her Grammy performance with Tina Turner. In a statement released Wednesday, Papa Knowles said he will not allow Beyonce to even comment about the uproar. "As a manager I am not taking something this ridiculous to Beyonce," Knowles stated. "Beyonce referred to Tina Turner as a 'queen.' Not queen of gospel, queen of soul, queen of blues, Queen of England. I consider my wife a queen and sometimes call her that. Does Aretha have a problem with that?" As previously reported, Franklin – known as the Queen of Soul – released a statement earlier this week addressing Beyonce's introduction of Turner during their duet Sunday night. With Franklin seated in the front row, Beyonce told the audience: "Stand on your feet and give it up for the queen." Aretha later stated: "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyonce. However, I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy." In his statement, Mathew Knowles said: "Something this ridiculous – it's childish, it's unprofessional. And it's a sad day when egos get bruised because somebody used the word king, queen, prince or princess."

Finally, a smart statement by Mr. Knowles. Usually when someone says something negative about Beyonce like Simon Cowell, he takes it too far and person but I do agree with his statement. He had every right to fire back at Aretha Franklin. She took it too far and it wasn't that serious.

Chicago-based music retailer and industry veteran George Daniels has confirmed rumors that he and his wife, Regina Daniels, have severed all ties with 41-year-old entertainer R. Kelly because of a sexual relationship the singer had with their daughter, Maxine. Regina Daniels, the singer's longtime publicist, released a statement in November announcing she had quit her post with the R&B crooner, explaining only that a line had been crossed. Now, music retailer George Daniels is speaking out about the situation, confirming rumors about what led to the bad blood. "He crossed the line with my daughter," Daniels said during an interview with Los Angeles radio station KJLH. "It didn't get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn't be here, if you know what I'm talking about."

Maxine, who was 21 when the relationship occurred, is still in college at Northern Illinois University and "doing very well," Daniels tells KJLH's morning show host Guy Black. Kelly's relationship with Mr. Daniels' adult daughter, Maxine. The fact is that they had no problem with the relationship -- indeed, they encouraged it -- while Ms. Daniels was on Mr. Kelly's payroll. It was Regina Daniels, then working as a publicist for Mr. Kelly, who persuaded him to attend her step-daughter's 21st birthday party. Aretha Franklin says she didn't appreciate Beyonce referring to Tina Turner as "the queen" before the duo's fiery performance at the Grammy's Sunday night. Known the world over as the "Queen of Soul," Franklin says she was taken aback upon hearing Beyonce describe Turner using that particular noun. "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy," Franklin said in a statement posted at People.com. "In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love Beyoncé anyway," Franklin added. Grammy No. 20 for Franklin was in the best gospel performance category for a duet with Mary J. Blige.

Natalie Cole can't understand how the Recording Academy can award a leading five Grammys to Amy Winehouse when the troubled singer has spent years abusing drugs and alcohol and only recently entered rehab to address her addiction. "I don't think she should have won," Cole told People magazine at Sunday's Warner Music Group post-Grammy party. "I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together. We have to stop rewarding bad behavior." "I'm sorry. I think the girl is talented, gifted, but it's not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too," Cole continued. "She needs to get herself together." Cole, who has had her share of substance abuse battles in the past, said she fears Winehouse may carry on her destructive ways if the industry continues to look past it and reward her talent.

"I mean, she could die. This isn't something that's cute and fun just to throw around in the press," said Cole. "The girl really has a problem, and I think for those of us who have been in the business long enough, we know the sacrifice it takes. This is about discipline and hard work, and you don't get to just do your drugs and go onstage and get rewarded."

At first when I read this, I agreed with everything Natalie said. Then I found out that she did drugs in the past and she had a nerve to say we should priase people like Rihanna and Beyonce and one of them should've won the award. Natalie should know better. Rihanna and Beyonce are the two main causes of why females in the music industry are used as sex putts. All they do is shake and show their ass and tities. They are nothing but manufactured artists who are praised too much already. I hate the fact that the media support Amy while she's on drugs; they are always finding a way to congradulate her even though she's on drugs, but she does have a unique voice and is true talent. Beyonce attended the Sony BMG Music 2008 GRAMMY Awards After Party. I personally think she doesn't look that great. I'm not a fan of Beyonce, but if she was wearing something that I liked, I wouldn't still say that I didn't like it; I would gladly compliment her look. I don't know what it is about this dress, maybe the color, the boobs almost popping out, and the wrap around her neck, but it's not working. Plus, these photos are HQ and her face looks old and kinda messy. I really don't get why people praise her so much on her style and beauty. It's funny because there are so many people who would disgree with what I say about her and think of some stupid reason as to why I don't like what's she's wearing or how she looks.

I didn't see the first performance of Alicia Keys, but the "No One" performance was very loud and annoying just like all of her other one's. I respect Alicia Keys as an artist, but this year I'm just not feelin' her material or vocal production. Her hair also looks stupid. It looks like a damn glam mohawk! Not cute at all! Fergie's performance with John Legend on the piano was very boring. She has shown that she actually has sining ability but she messed up here and there on the notes during the song. I wasn't impressed with Rihanna's performance. Plus WTF is she wearing? She looks like the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz! This girl's voice is a complete mess. She cannot sing at all! She went all over the place with her notes. She didn't even make an effot to dance, all she did was walk and jump around. She has the flashing lights, background dancers, and the special guest appearance do all the work. She's such a studio artist.

Kelis and Nas attended the GRAMMYS controversially. First of all, Kelis looks so damn funky. THose pants are too tight and dont flatter her behind. She has no ass at all! Second of all, I see why their photos aren't seen everywhere, look at what their shirts/jackets say. This is the GRAMMYS, a very classy event where there are many white folks. WTF is Nas trying to prove? Is he supporting the use of the N word or just trying to show how ridiculously popular the word has gotten??? Either way it's a dumb idea. This isn't going to change anything. Black people are still going to choose to be ignorant and followers when it comes to using hood lingo. On the heels of Lil Wayne's felony arrest on gun charges earlier this month, 50 Cent was recently kicked out of a mall in Scottsdale because members of his crew were allegedly packing heat. Police said security at Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall stopped 50 and his entourage asking that they remove their guns from the mall’s premises. Later that same day, 50 Cent was back in the headlines for reportedly reducing Paris Hilton to tears during a pre-Super Bowl event. According to the New York Post's Page Six, Hilton was hosting a party in Scottsdale for 944 magazine, where 50 Cent was one of the headliners. After 50 Cent said her name in one of his songs, Hilton tried to join the rapper onstage to dance, only to be met with 50 barking at her to "Get the f*** off the stage." Witnesses said the outburst prompted Hilton to start crying, which was captured on film by photographers at the event.

Kanye West has announced that more dates are being worked out for his Glow in the Dark tour, which launched in the UK last year in support of his latest album "Graduation." Imagine being a life long Diana Ross fan and paying some 70 or 80 bucks to see her in concert, only to be so far away that you can't see any part of her, or even the stage itself. This was a frustrating reality for many Jamaican fans at Saturday's Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Montego Bay. The event turned ugly when host Don Topping announced Ross' request that she not be filmed for large video screens that would allow everyone at the Acquaduct Rose Hall to see her performance. Needless to say, her decisions caused many in the crowd of roughly 40,000 to boo and heckle The Boss throughout her hour-long performance, which went unseen by most audience members seated too far away. Festival rep Carlette DeLeon released a statement admitting that "the much anticipated performance of Diana Ross on Saturday proved somewhat disappointing to many patrons who expected a very interactive set."

"Miss Ross' request to have a restricted display of her performance however, inconvenienced patrons who were left feeling distanced from the stage and her performance," she continued. Jawn Murray of AOL Black Voices was on hand with a video camera and captured one round of booing after Topping announced there would be no videotaping of Ross' set. According to local entertainment television correspondent Candice Buchanan, many fans had been looking forward to the performance for months, only to come away without actually seeing the Detroit native."[They were] saving up their moneys to make sure they wouldn't miss this once in a lifetime performance by their favorite star Diana Ross," said Buchanan. "Now for them to get there and be deprived of even a glimpse of Miss Ross was indeed a major blow. That coupled with the fact that her performance was low energy and filled with lip synching lead to the [reaction] she received. Apparently Jamaicans felt dissed by the diva and lost interest."

Beyonce Knowles will play singing powerhouse Etta James in the upcoming film "Cadillac Records," which explores the black music scene during 1950s Chicago while telling the story of Chess Records founder, Leonard Chess. Confirmed cast member Cedric the Entertainer mentioned that Beyonce had booked the role while promoting his upcoming film, "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins." He told reporters at the roundtable it was a small role. As previously reported, Jeffrey Wright will play Muddy Waters, while Adrien Brody, Columbus Short, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Tammy Blanchard are also on board. Filming will take place in New Jersey and Mississippi.

The city of Compton has asked a court to ban members of the Mob Piru gang from being able to congregate there. The order requested by city officials lists 200 people associated with the gang – including Suge. "This is crazy," Knight told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm a 42-year-old businessman, not a gang member. I don't even live in Compton anymore." DEA agents in Arizona arrested Lil Wayne on three felony drug charges Wednesday after police dogs went through his tour bus and sniffed out multiple drugs – including ecstasy and cocaine, according to the Associated Press. The rapper and 11 others were traveling along Interstate 8 near Yuma when it was flagged for inspection by a K-9 unit," reports Allhiphop.com. While searching the bus, cops uncovered 105 grams of weed, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ex, $22,000 dollars in cash and several firearms, including a 44 caliber pistol. He did have a concealed weapon permit from Florida, but we are investigating whether it violates any Arizona laws," said DEA spokeswoman Ramona Sanchez. As of press time, Wayne and two other men – 23-year-old Harold Johnson, Jr. and 24-year-old Curtis Stewart – were still being held at the Yuma County jail. "The two other individuals were charged with possession of marijuana," Sanchez told the Web site. "Mr. Carter was charged with possession of the cocaine and ecstasy, and possession of miscellaneous paraphernalia." Lil Wayne’s bond was set at $10,185 dollars, while Johnson and Stewart are being held on $3,009 bond. As the Hollywood writers strike threatens to claim the 50th annual Grammy telecast as its next victim, nominated artists are being put in a rather awkward position. Recording Academy President Neil Portnow has already announced that a full-scale Grammys will be presented from Los Angeles on Feb. 10 and broadcast live on CBS no matter what. "We won't be a clip show or a press conference or anything of the sort. This show really will go on," he said. However, some musicians have said they would boycott the ceremony in solidarity with striking writers, especially top-level musical superstars who also are actors, such as nominees Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys. "I feel torn, because I'm a writer," R&B singer-songwriter Jill Scott, who is nominated for three Grammys, told The Associated Press on Friday. "I feel like I'm caught in the middle. ... I don't know how to feel."The Writers Guild of America [WGA], which is seeking compensation for programs, movies and other content streamed or downloaded over the Internet, granted a waiver for the NAACP Image awards, allowing writers to work on the live Feb. 14 telecast.

But the Golden Globes were not so lucky. The WGA refused to grant the waiver for the annual ceremony and threatened picketing. The Screen Actors Guild [SAG] encouraged its stars to stay away as well. As a result, the typically lavish three-hour televised awards extravaganza was reduced to a one-hour, celebrity-free newscast on Jan. 13. Portnow says he has asked the WGA for an interim agreement that would allow writers to work on the Grammy telecast. WGA spokesman Gregg Mitchell said the request was referred to the board of the union's West Coast branch for a decision. He said, however, that a deal "is unlikely to be granted." Jill Scott, also an actress, said she felt empathy for the WGA and didn't know what she would do if asked to perform at a picketed show. "That's not an easy decision for me," she said. "I would feel like I'm choosing between my parents."

Meanwhile, Beyonce, also an actress and SAG member, has announced that she will perform at the Grammys, even if it means crossing a picket line. Her father/manager Matthew Knowles said in a statement: "we have every intention" of being at the event in Los Angeles." "We have an incredible Beyonce performance that will be announced soon. We wish the Grammys the best," he continued. Best new artist nominee and SAG member, R&B singer-songwriter Ledesi, was hopeful the situation could be worked out, but indicated that she would not go if the WGA picketed and SAG directed its members not to attend. "We have to do what we have to do," she said. "I'm praying that I get to go — I've been wanting to go for years." Kanye West leads the nominations with eight, while Amy Winehouse is up for six awards.
